Taiwan’s remarkable geographical and topographical richness has inspired many themed tour packages. Take Moon World Landform Park in Kaoshiung Tianliao for example. The terrain here consists of slate-grey loose mudstones that crumble easily in the rains, making foot traffic difficult. The desolate, barren terrain is evocative of the Moon surface and known as “badlands” in geography. Building a foot trail on such a landscape is challenging. Fortunately, the “Path to the Moon Walkway” was created in 2014 that allows tourists to hike up the hills with ease, and feast their eyes on this topographical wonder.
